DIY Birthday

My amazing Daughter Billianne, just turned the BIG 5!
I really wanted to create a memorable birthday wonderland without all the timings and trappings bought from the store.Below you will see what we worked on…

I Started with the invites…

I created dessert stands from cute old saucers and serving dishes. The spacers are old stubby crystal goblets.

I had been having dreams about a tent.
I came across an image on the interweb and just couldn't get it out of my head
My creation is in no shape or form as great as the image, but it is as magic…

FloatHome Village Coloring Book

This is a post from last spring. (blog migration)...

There is a season opening down on the docks here this weekend.
www.victoriaharbour.org
I figured what a great time to debut of my ever-expanding coloring book that showcases this amazing community.

(Jackson was giving me a hard time because his Ice Cream Shop was not yet included...but be it known...Jackson will appear!)

I hope to include all the businesses and a few more homes.
Life on the docks is a colorful and amazing experience.
Come down and see for yourself.

Punk Rock Reunion

So this weekend is the annual Punk Rock Bowling in Vegas.
It is a crazy fun event and has become a meet up for myself andsome of my most best-est friends.

When I lived in San Francisco I had a little apt on the border of the Mission dist and Potrero Hill.

It was a fun little place.

Two of the most amazing women came into my life and we all shared this little space.
the Address was 325 Potrero ave.

we always loved 325
and that has become a number that we use like a Verb.
so I thought I would commemorate 325 in a charm necklace.

"O" is for Octopus

This little Octo friend may only have 4 legs, but he has a cozy new home.

Safe and sound in our little door front garden, he will watch 40,000 tourists come and go from the harbour ferry stop out side my home.
I think I need to paint more door front friends on stones…

internet browsing

I Know the photo is bad, but it is kind of exciting finding info about your family…I actually don't really know why I want to share this today. The Johnston Family hasn't really ever taken me under their wing. One of the last engendering things I remember my grandmother tell me was to mix white with blue to make clouds, she is an amazing painter and that was her advice to me in kindergarten .
The wisdom has not been as grand since age 5.

Well this is John Senior, I think he was a wild man, golfing around the country while my grandmother whom grew up in the rough North of BC raised 4 boys. (her sister gave birth to a beautiful words-smith…Patrick Lane.)

I will scan the photo's I have stored away of the old Nelson Hotel that she grew up in.

They are not married today, however my grandfather visits ole Betty everyday in the hospital where she currently resides due to her stroke from last spring. She is still amazing and strong and I look for her spark when I try to visit. It is a spark hidden by paralysis and I think sadness, the glow is not quite the same in her eyes. However, she is amazing still and so is Johns sr. they are funny and witty and am happy to call them family!

Just browsing around the web…found an article of my Grandfather, he was quite the jet setter…

celebrate the Tiger when you don't have a Valentine…

Year of the tiger, what do you do when you are a rabbit?

When you don't have a valentine,
(and as my 4 year old daughter reminded me "cupid is gone now Mummy, you will have to wait till next year for an arrow")
You find other things to focus your attention on. Conveniently it is the lunar new year and so I went to our tiny China Town here in Victoria. Year of the Tiger, lets hope there will be lots of great things to come in this new year.
